Activision has released a trailer for the new Annihilation Map Pack, showing off each of the five new maps. It’s worthwhile to point out that the fry cook, apparently known as “Burgerman” returns in this video, having appeared in other trailers and commercials released for Black Ops and its downloadable map packs.

Playstation Updates

Within the past several days, there have been several new developments for Playstation Call of Duty fans that we’ve compiled into a convenient single post.

First, the Escalation map pack is scheduled to be released on the Playstation Network on June 10th. The recently relaunched store is having twice weekly updates to catch up on its backlog of titles, and Duty gamers will benefit from this special Friday update.

With timing which is a little bit more than coincidental, several past Map Packs are discounted on the PSN in a sale that just went live this evening:
Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Pack – now $4.99, original price $9.99
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence Package – now $7.49, original price $14.99
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package – now $7.49, original price $14.99

Sony has also partnered with Activision to create a Playstation 3 and Black Ops bundle, meaning anybody looking to jump into the fray can do so for just $299.99. This represents a significant savings as gamers can now get Call of Duty: Black Ops and the First Strike Map Pack at no addition cost.

Call of Duty Elite – Details Revealed

Following the leaks that surfaced online last night, Activision has formally announced Call of Duty Elite. As previously described, the service is free for a basic set of features, but also provides premium features with a monthly service fee. Activision is strongly emphasizing that multiplayer will remain free to all users, but will be enhanced by Elite’s social networking features and stat tracking. Activision has also announced that Elite’s premium features will include access to DLC including map packs.

The service will open to beta testers this summer and work with Call of Duty: Black Ops. You can register to become a beta tester here. The service will become available to everyone on November 8, 2011, the same day that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released.

Activision has also posted a rather unique reveal trailer, which we have embedded below.

C.O.D.E.’s Memorial Day Campaign

The Call of Duty Endowment (C.O.D.E.), which we have covered extensively in the past, has announced their Memorial Day 2011 Campaign. From now until Monday, for every individual who “donates” their Facebook status, the Call of Duty Endowment will donate $1 to Hire Heroes USA, up to $50,000. In last year’s campaign, $50,000 was raised for the organization through Facebook, and when he heard of the success, Activision’s CEO Bobby Kotick matched the donation. If C.O.D.E. is successful this year, maybe he will be willing to do it again!

Click here to donate your status to the veterans and the Call of Duty Endowment this Memorial Day Weekend.
